Bouncing is genuinely hard work. A kid can sweat through their shirt in ten minutes. Adults are worse-they push harder and hide their exhaustion until they're sitting against a wall looking pale. If the air inside the park is warm and humid, you get problems fast. Heat exhaustion, dehydration, cranky parents. I've seen parks lose entire birthday parties because the birthday kid overheated and the mom took everyone home early.

But it's not just about comfort. Trampoline mats are sensitive to temperature. Too hot and the material stretches. Too cold and it stiffens. Springs lose tension when the temperature swings wildly. I've seen parks in unheated northern climates where the mats got brittle in winter and cracked under normal use. That's not a warranty issue-that's an environmental issue.

What kind of systems actually work

A properly sized HVAC system for even a small park runs into serious money. And it requires maintenance-filters, ducts, refrigerants. If you skip maintenance, it fails at the worst possible time.

Evaporative coolers are cheaper to run, but they only work in dry climates. If you're in Arizona or parts of California, they can be effective. If you're in Florida or anywhere with actual humidity, forget it. All you'll do is make the air wetter.

Ductless mini-splits are probably the best option for small parks on a budget. They're relatively affordable, easy to install, and let you control different zones independently. That zonal control matters because the area near the foam pit will feel different from the area near the windows. Mini-splits aren't perfect-they don't move as much air as a full HVAC system-but they handle most small park situations well.

Radiant heating is only for cold climates. It's great for keeping floors warm in winter, but it does nothing for cooling. If you're in Minnesota and your park is in a converted warehouse, radiant heat under the floor can make the space usable in January. But you'll still need something for summer.

What I'd tell you if we were on the phone

First, don't skip this. I've seen too many park owners treat temperature control as an optional expense, and then they're running portable fans and hoping nobody complains. The complaints come. They always come.

Second, think about your local climate before you buy anything. A park in Phoenix needs different equipment than a park in Seattle. Get a local HVAC contractor to look at your space and give you a recommendation. Don't buy a system off the internet based on square footage alone. There are too many variables-ceiling height, window placement, insulation quality, even how many people you expect on a busy Saturday.

Third, budget for ongoing costs. Whatever system you choose, it will cost money to run. That's just reality. Factor it into your pricing. A park that charges too little and then can't afford to cool the space in July is a park that loses customers.

Temperature control isn't glamorous. It won't sell birthday party packages or get you on Instagram. But it's one of those invisible things that determines whether your park feels professional or like a warehouse with trampolines in it. Visitors might not notice when it's good. They'll definitely notice when it's bad.
